President
Obama just released his 2016 budget. Again, it does not reflect our
values. The Pentagon continues to represent nearly 50% of discretionary
spending at a staggering $1 trillion a year.
The
budget does some good things: increasing taxes on corporations and the
super wealthy, and reversing a several year trend of cuts on key
programs for the poor. Yet, there are plenty of areas of waste and
abuse in the Pentagon such as nuclear weapons, the F-35 plane and
military bases abroad.
